The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has fixed April 24, 2025, as the new starting date for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) across all states in Nigeria.
Earlier, the UTME was to begin on Friday, April 25, but the Board moved it forward by one day due to what it called “important schedules involving the Board and its partner agencies.”
The notice was shared in an official statement signed by Fabian Benjamin, Ph.D., who serves as JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, on Saturday, April 19.
“The 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will now start on Thursday, April 24, 2025, instead of Friday, April 25. The new date was selected due to important engagements of the Board and its collaborators,” the statement confirmed.
Candidates can now print slips
As part of preparations, JAMB has now enabled its online portal, allowing registered candidates to print their Examination Notification Slips.
“All candidates who completed registration for the 2025 UTME, which begins on Thursday, 24th April 2025, are advised to print their examination slips ahead of time,” the statement added.
The slip provides key details such as:
- Exam date
- Exam centre (venue)
- Exam time
How to print your UTME slip
- Go to www.jamb.gov.ng
- Click on “2025 UTME Slip Printing”
- Enter your registration number
- Click “Print Examination Slip”
The Board also advised candidates to visit their test centres beforehand so they can easily locate them and avoid last-minute issues or delays.
Assigned towns only
JAMB repeated its strict rule on exam location, warning that candidates should only appear at the test centres within the towns they selected during UTME registration.
“Candidates will be assigned centres within their chosen towns. No one will be permitted to write the exam in a different town or centre,” the Board warned.
What you should know
The Board recently created fake websites that look like those used by scammers to trap candidates attempting to cheat.
These websites were part of a sting operation that exposed over 180 candidates who paid from ₦30,000 upwards for leaked questions and fake result upgrades.
As part of its overall preparation for the 2025 UTME, JAMB also released a total of ₦397,030,900 as transport allowances for 1,909 officials who took part in the mock exam held across the country on April 10, 2025.
