The Buhari administration owed the participants several months’ salaries, a situation that was halted by President Bola Tinubu upon taking office.

Nevertheless, the minister emphasized the FG’s intention to rectify shortcomings in the programme prior to its reinstatement.

Edu, who revealed that the arrears payment to programme participants commenced yesterday, shared this information on Thursday’s edition of Politics Today on Channels Television.

Edu expressed, “Currently, N-Power’s payment process is active; we stayed in the office from yesterday into the early hours today, dedicated to ensuring youths receive the funds owed by the previous administration.

“Thus, N-Power recipients across the country, you likely recognize the deposits in your accounts, and this process will persist until every eligible and serving individual has been paid.

“Naturally, this entire procedure is being revamped to aid in reducing unemployment and fostering job opportunities for Nigerians.”

“The Renewed Hope N-Power hasn’t been reinitiated yet. We’re addressing past issues. These are individuals who haven’t received payments for several months.

“Previously, a consultant managed the N-Power beneficiaries’ payment processes. However, there were extensive delays in these payments reaching the beneficiaries.

“Therefore, the government retrieved the funds into its TSA CBN account and initiated a thorough verification of the beneficiaries, a process that has been time-consuming, and for this, we request the patience of the youths,” stated the minister.

President Bola Tinubu has instructed the immediate disbursement of funds to 400,000 NPower program participants.

Following a thorough verification process by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Tinubu has ordered the prompt payment of overdue stipends to NPower beneficiaries nationwide.

Tinubu Orders Immediate Payment to 400,000 NPower Beneficiaries

The presidential order, issued on Wednesday evening, has sparked widespread celebration among over 400,000 beneficiaries throughout the nation.

Mr. Rasheed Olanrewaju Zubair, the Minister’s Media and Publicity Advisor, announced on Friday that the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty, Dr. Betta Edu, has confirmed the release of funds, bringing renewed hope to Nigerian youth for the festive season.

The minister highlighted President Tinubu’s commitment to Nigerian youth, evidenced by his administration’s numerous youth-focused policies and programs.

Working late into the night with the NPOWER team to ensure timely payments before Christmas, as per the President’s instruction, the minister expressed satisfaction with the outcome.

The minister confirmed the initiation of payments to NPower beneficiaries, with funds now reflecting in their bank accounts.

Expressing her best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, the minister acknowledged the patience of the beneficiaries during the extensive verification process.

A grateful beneficiary from Kano, Aminu Muhammed, thanked the President and the Minister for fulfilling their promise, confirming the receipt of payment.

Similar confirmations of payment were reported by beneficiaries including Sanni Baba from Bauchi, Uche Nnaji from Enugu, Kayode Babatunde from Ibadan, and Kolo Nda from Niger state, among the approximately 400,000 verified and paid participants, as stated in the minister’s announcement.

How to ensure you get paid by NPower

Account Validation: NPower requires beneficiaries to validate their accounts. This involves accessing a validation link provided by NPower, filling in necessary details such as personal and account information, and then waiting for confirmation after NPower verifies the provided information.

Correct Bank Verification Number (BVN): Make sure to use the correct BVN when registering. This is crucial as NPower uses the BVN to avoid duplicate payments and errors in payment processing.

Accurate Personal Information: Double-check that all your personal information, including bank details on the NASIMS platform, is accurate and up-to-date. Mistakes in this information can lead to payment setbacks.

Active Participation and Duty Performance: To receive NPower stipends, a beneficiary must actively attend and perform duties at their Primary Place of Assignment (PPA). Skipping monthly clearance or not attending the PPA can result in non-payment.

Seek Assistance When Needed: If you encounter any issues or have questions regarding your payments, don’t hesitate to reach out to NPower’s support team for assistance.

Following these steps can help ensure a smooth payment process with NPower. Remember, NPower is focused on empowering unemployed individuals, and active participation in the program is key to receiving the benefits.

Why is the Npower Portal (ssp.nasims.gov.ng) Login Not Functioning?

Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation in Nigeria, has announced the indefinite suspension of the N-Power programme.

Speaking on TVC News on Saturday, Edu explained that the decision stemmed from several irregularities discovered within the program.

She emphasized the importance of a thorough investigation to understand how funds have been used since the programme’s inception.

Highlighting the reasons for this suspension, Edu stated, “We need to re-evaluate the N-Power program and pinpoint its issues, leading us to temporarily halt it until a comprehensive investigation into the fund’s usage is completed.

Our focus is to determine the current number of participants, identify those who are owed, and the owed amounts. We’re completely overhauling and expanding N-Power.”

She added, “We encountered individuals who should have left the program last year still claiming active participation and stipends.

However, checks with their assigned schools or workplaces often reveal they are not present there, despite claims of unpaid stipends for up to eight or nine months.”

The N-Power Programme, initiated by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, aims to address youth unemployment and promote social development.
