Nigeria Gears Up for Digital Future: Phase 2 of 3MTT Programme to Train 270,000 More Tech Talents
Nigeria’s ambition to become a global leader in the digital economy took a significant leap forward today with the announcement of the second phase of the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Programme.

Dr. Bosun Tijani, Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, revealed that the next cohort of 270,000 fellows will be announced on February 29th, 2024, with training slated to begin in March.
Launched in 2023, the 3MTT Programme aims to equip Nigerians with the technical skills needed to drive the nation’s digital transformation. The first phase, currently wrapping up, has trained an initial group of fellows across 12 critical skill areas, including software development, data analysis, and cybersecurity.
“The initial programme phase has provided valuable lessons and positive feedback from both fellows and training providers,” said Dr. Tijani. “These insights will be instrumental in refining and scaling the program for the next phase.”
Building on this success, the second phase promises to be even more impactful. By training an additional 270,000 individuals over the next 18 months, the 3MTT Programme is poised to make a significant dent in the nation’s tech talent gap.
